Where is my data stored?

All data is stored locally at ~/Library/Application Support/SelfDiscipline/. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. Fully offline. Back up this folder anytime, or keep multiple Macs in sync with Pro iCloud sync.

Does it support multi-device sync?

Yes. Pro syncs across Macs via Apple iCloud. Enable iCloud sync in Settings and sign in with the same Apple ID. Data goes through Apple iCloud, not our servers. Free users can export or copy the data folder manually.

How do I migrate data between Macs?

Recommended (Pro): Sign in with the same Apple ID on the new Mac, install the app, and enable iCloud sync in Settings — data merges automatically. Manual: Copy ~/Library/Application Support/SelfDiscipline/ to the same path on the new device.

Is SelfDiscipline free?

Core features are free. Pro comes as a yearly or lifetime plan — unlocking unlimited history, iCloud sync, data export, all ambient sounds and themes, and more; new users get a 7-day full Pro trial. No ads, no data collection. See exact prices on the pricing page.

Do I need an account?

No app account or email required. Core features work fully offline. Pro iCloud sync uses your Apple ID managed by Apple — we run no account system and store no login credentials.

How do I delete my data?

Delete items in the app, or remove ~/Library/Application Support/SelfDiscipline/ to clear local data. With iCloud sync enabled, clean up on each Mac or manage data in System iCloud settings.

If I bought Pro and the developer stops updating, can I still use it?

Yes. SelfDiscipline is local-first: data stays on your Mac; core timers, tasks, and stats do not depend on our servers. Pro uses an offline license — no ongoing internet required. Even if we stop maintaining the app, your installed copy and local data keep working. Pro iCloud sync uses Apple's cloud, not our servers. Export and backup included.

What if I paid but the service stops working?

We avoid tying core features to our own cloud: no "must be online to track time," no history locked in accounts we operate. For a local buy-once app, a developer "disappearing" usually means no more updates — not the app breaking. iCloud sync is a value-add; your Mac stays the primary copy; export/backup always available. 7-day no-questions refund on direct purchases.

What is the refund policy?

Direct purchase: 7-day no-questions refund — email us from your purchase address. Mac App Store purchases follow Apple's refund policy.
